I just read this article, IRS loses challenge to prove tax liability, and it brings up some good points.  I've always known that an income tax was not in the constitution and considered it unlawful but I never thought of quite like this.  The IRS can tax profit, but working is a trade that we do not profit from.  Hence, they cannot tax our income when we apply that trade.

I never thought of it from this perspective but it makes absolute sense:

"The IRS lets Wal-Mart sell a trillion dollars worth of goods, but they can back out their cost of goods [before being taxed,]" he said. "The IRS considers, in the case of a Wal-Mart wage earner, 100 percent of what he takes in is profit."

"But he's using his life, energy and work lifespan, and depleting it as he goes," Cryer told WND. "[Working] is a God-given fundamental right that is protected under the Constitution and can't be taxed any more than exercising freedom of speech."

Furthermore, when pressed for the actual constitutional provision, the IRS wont (or should I say can't) come up with a specific one to back up income tax:

Spokesman Robert Marvin in Washington's IRS office told WND the Internal Revenue Code provides for taxation on salaries or wages, but when pressed for a specific citation, or constitutional provision, he said, "I can't comment."

The government is bullying us and stealing our money that we EARN working legally.  I for one do not profit from my labor, even though the IRS takes my money under such a guise.

Read this article this morning and I thought the very last line summed up the republican party PERFECTLY!
Republicanism works fantastic as an opposition party. In charge of things? Not so much.
Wow.  I couldn't agree more.  After seeing how they effectively brought the Clinton administration to it's knees during the Monica Lewinsky Impeachment hearings yet gawk at the democrats now trying to do the same for Bush's lies that entered us into an illegal war just makes you wonder - what really is the republican party's agenda?

I'm begining to see that they are truly good at disrupting the flow of government yet lack any knowledge of actually running it.
