Terrorists use fear, violence and intimidation to push their agenda.

President Bush uses fear, violence and intimidation to push his agenda.

Ipso facto; President Bush IS a terrorist!

About time if you ask me!

Worm targets Macs via Bluetooth (CNN)
SAN FRANCISCO, California (Reuters) -- A new computer worm targeting Apple Computer Inc.'s Macintosh computers has been identified for the second time in one week, security experts said.

Glad to see that hackers are finally diversifying.

My apologies to my handful of readers, it seems that an IP switch on my part yesterday took down xerratus.com.  Because of the nature of the switch and the fact that I did it locally fooled me into believing that everything worked out just fine.  The truth was I managed to isolate my server to within my network thus making it seem like everything was working fine, until I got to work and noticed that outage.

My dumbass stamp has bee properly affixed to my forehead.

That is all.

Sitting here on the 9th floor overlooking Washington Square Mall next to highway 217, me and my co-workers just watched about 6 fire trucks come from 3 different directions.  They all seemed to converge at or near the mall.  Unfortunately we can only see part of the mall so we don't know what is up.  As far as we can see, there is no smoke.  What is going on?

Damn, here comes another one.

About time!

This story, Court rejects 'intelligent design' in class, on cnn.com says it all.

A couple choice quotes from U.S. District Judge John E. Jones III decision:

"The citizens of the Dover area were poorly served by the members of the Board who voted for the ID Policy,"

"It is ironic that several of these individuals, who so staunchly and proudly touted their religious convictions in public, would time and again lie to cover their tracks and disguise the real purpose behind the ID Policy."

Thank you Judge Jones.  Thank you for making sure our constitutional rights are not trampled upon by those few who seem forget that there is a seperation of church and state here in America for a reason.

Here in Portland, 101.1 (KUFO) has been airing Howard Sterns morning show for a few years now and it's had a good run.  But alas, today is Stern's last public radio show broadcast.  Don't get me wrong, back in the day, when it was fashionable, I couldn't get enough of Howard and the gang (except for Jackie the Jokeman -he was just a dumb shit) but now, in my opinion, he's just no longer "shocking".  Honestly, I'm glad he's leaving the public air waves.  Why?  He's hit a wall and the only way to get around it is to go uncensored on satellite radio.  One of 2 things will happen:  Either he'll continue to grow and get even more shocking or he won't be shocking enough to justify being on a pay service.  This move will make or break him, in my opinion.

Now, for the news that I'm just elated about:  To replace Stern here in Portland, rather than experiment with a local DJ, KUFO is buying Adam Carollas syndicated feed from Los Angeles.  SHIT YEAH!  Finally, there will be something to start listening to in the mornings on my way to work that'll "crack my shit up" as my wife likes to say.

Lately, I've been listening to 94.7 (KNRK) which plays such an array of music in the morning that I either hate it or love it.  As of late, I've hated it.  Mostly due to an insurgence of 80's music being played during my commute.  Come on, enough with that crap, I want to hear newer songs like they play in the afternoon.  The one thing I truly loved about their morning show was the John Stewart Minute, a minute highlight of his show on Comedy Central aptly titled, the Daily Show, which they played at 6:45am every morning.  The problem is that I now leave the house at 6:50am and I end up missing it every morning.  Now, I'm not going to leave any earlier so I'm not going to hear it any longer, it's a fact.  So with the advent of Adam "coming" to town, my fill of humor in the morning will be complete.  Why is this important?  I believe that it's better to get in a few laughs before getting to work, where ever you work, it just makes the rest of the day go smoother.

Speaking of which, I guess I should get back to it... they've changed the cover of the TPS reports  ;-)

UPDATE: Today, January 3rd, was Adams first show.  Finally.  Wasn't able to catch much but I liked what I heard.

It's colder than a muthafucker!

Seriously, I just checked weather.com for the local weather conditions and it is saying that it's 23 degrees outside right now.  With the windchill it feels like it's 16 degrees.

That's just wrong!  We're in Portland, Oregon NOT Portland, Maine.

YES!  Gas in my area (South East Portland) has finally dropped below $2 a gallon.  This calls for a celebration, bring out the tequilla, the donkey and the midget!

This morning when I went to get gas it was $1.99 per gallon and I was able to fill up my tank, for the first time in months, for unde $30.  About fucking time if you ask me.  I won't be happy until it gets down to around the $1.50 to $1.75 range (I'm referring to the cheap stuff by the say not premium).  What will I do with the whopping $1.25 that I saved?  Start my child(ren)-to-be college fund?  Put a down payment on a new Beamer?  No, I'll buy myself a Starbucks cup of coffee (it's more than google has given me).

Mmmmmm coffee.

Wow!  Fucking wow!

As I was reading this article on the FBI email scam, I ran across the IC3 (Internet Crime Complaint Center) where I found this beauty... the NW3C (National White Collar Crime Center).  WTF?

When did this organization come into existence?  And why the hell aren't they doing anything about Enron?  In all actuality, I'm sure it's a bureaucratic organization, so at some point in time, they'll be investigating themselves.

Too much fun!  Seriously, I can't make this shit up.

While reading my blogs today, I came across a very good article from the Washington Post commented on blurbomat.  The thing that caught my eye was this quote:

"To question your government is not unpatriotic -- to not question your government is unpatriotic," -Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.)

That is a powerful statement.  I firmly believe that the Bush administration has been using patriotism as a guise to be with or against them; if you’re against our policy, you are un-American -BULLSHIT!

In the first paragraph the good senator also stated:

"the Bush administration must understand that each American has a right to question our policies in Iraq and should not be demonized for disagreeing with them."

Bravo Mr. Hagel, Bravo!  We need more politicians like you, ones who aren't afraid to speak out against the mainstream propaganda.

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!

I don't know whether to be happy or pissed off after finding some blogger stealing my content.  On one hand, it's kind of cool to know that my information is worthy of stealing but it's my fucking content!  Yup, I'm pissed off!

DasBlog, the engine that runs xerratus, has some cool logging, referrer, and trackback features which allow me to see where people came from and who's linking to my entries.  Since I don't get monstrous traffic, I tend to click on most referrers and all the trackbacks... I'm curious.  So I came across one, clicked on it and started reading my entry as if it was written by this asshat.  I'm not kidding, it was word-for-word.  Check it out yourself.
The fucker even used the exact same title!

I'm not quite sure what to do now.  Do I contact him and ask him to stop?  Do I leave a comment on his blog stating that it's my conent that everyone is reading?  Do I just leave it because it's just not worth pursuing?  Does this happen a lot?  Is this the way blogging works?

At the very least, I'm writing this entry to let people know that my content is ORIGINAL and MINE!  It may be crap, but it's my crap... and I love and apparently have issues with other people stealing my crap.

Here's a screen shot incase he gets a bug up his ass to take it down.

My lovely wife is a daddy's girl, she knows it, I know it, her father knows it, and I believe complete strangers know it.  More to the point, she talks to her father, who lives in Pittsburgh, PA, on an almost daily basis; the night before Halloween was no exception.  As she was talking to her father that night, he relayed a secret to her that he had been keeping for a couple weeks.  Does he have a girlfriend, my mind wondered?  No, he's going to Las Vegas in a week with his sister, my Aunt-in-law.  Congrats Ed, I thought, pull a slot handle for me.  My wife, on the other hand, had plans of her own.  Oh yes, since he's going to be near us (as if 1500 miles is near, nearer than Pittsburgh I guess) we HAVE to go, even if it's just for a day.  After some talking and a day to think about it, I agreed to it.  Now all we needed to do was book a flight and get a room.

Using Expedia, my wife found a flight leaving at 9:30pm PST 11/9 and returning 11:30pm PST for around $474 and change.  Great!  Along with the room at Circus Circus (not my first choice but that's where the family is staying) it's affordable and doable.  So we go to checkout, give them our credit card info and submit but to our dismay, the confirmation screen said that the price had changed to around $686 and change -WTF!  Well, we figured user error so we did it all over again.  The searches yielded the same price and we checked out again but no go.  Again, it prompted us to accept the new price.  Well, perhaps its a glitch and a customer service representative can help.  As you can imagine the Expedia representative couldn't help us, she stated that the prices in the system were being updated and that the new price was the right price.  I, being a web developer, didn't buy it.  In my personal opinion, I think it was a lame excuse by a not-so-savvy person.  Honestly, I'm sure she didn't even work at Expedia.  As big corporations do sometimes, they farm out customer service calls to an outside agency where they have a list of 10 lame excuses to give people when they call so that they don't have to do any real work.

Back to the point, I immediately say "fuck that, Expedia can blow me!" and pull up Orbitz.  Personally, I like Orbitz and use it more often than not.  Through them, I find the EXACT same flight, there and back, for $471 and change ($3 cheaper, hehe), proceed to checkout and viola, we have our confirmation and e-tickets for the price quoted -the way it's supposed to work!

After an hour at the laptop and a beer-and-a-half later, we got what we were quoted and my wife and I are GOING TO VEGAS BABY!  WOO HOO!  Even if it is just for a day, it's still a needed break for us both and a full day away from our pets.

Thank you Orbitz, you saved the day.

Fuck you Expedia, you suck!

My wife and I were recently exonorated in small claims court from a shady collection agency called Sunwest Financial located in Portland, OR (I'd link to their site or yellow pages entry but I can't find either).  My wife goes into detail on her blog about our ordeal with this company.  If you or someone you know who has a less than perfect credit past and is summoned to small claims court (by Sunwest Financial or not) know that you HAVE RIGHTS and you don't have to take this kind of scare tactic from a collection agency.

We won our case because Sunwest Financial was banking that we wouldn't even show up to our initial hearing, thus giving them the right to start seizing our assets.  We did show up and we fought back.  After rescheduling because the plaintiff had to pick up her kids (likely story) they failed to show up again, causing the judge to dismiss the suit.

My wife and I feel that they didn't have a case and we were prepared to fight and WIN.

You have rights as a debtor.  Don't let some company like Sunwest Financial push you around.

Side note: You know you're dealing with a shady company when their representative shows up in court in jeans and a T-shirt playing scratch-it lottery tickest!  Dumbass!

Since I'm an avid user of dasBlog (this site is powered by it) I thought I'd pass along this alert from Scott Hanselman for other users of dasBlog concerning their comment blacklist.  Basically, Jay Allen, the person who updates the blacklist for dasBlog users apparently made a change to the list which is now converting the list to a regular expression, thus blocking more users than it should.

Please pass along,

Moving on...
